bye*partisan
Senior Capstone Project
Summer + Spring 2025

Project Overviewbye*partisan is an experiential installation designed to help high school students introspectively examine and understand their media biases.

bye*partisan
is...a traveling installation, engaging, educational, interactive, introspective

is not...overwhelming, polarizing, exclusive, intimidating

Programs & Sources: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp

Problem Statement
In today’s polarized media landscape, high school students are entering adulthood without the ability to identify bias or think critically about the news they consume. In turn, this leaves them vulnerable to misinformation and unchecked opinions. As these students approach voting age, they risk carrying bias into their political and professional lives, reinforcing cycles of polarization and limiting productive discourse.
Design Solution
bye*partisan is a traveling, interactive installation that brings media literacy education directly to high school students in a way that is engaging, digestible, and introspective. This hands-on experience is both friendly and approachable, inviting students to interact with the displays. Challenging prompts encourage students to reflect on whether they harbor their own biases and reevaluate the news they consume.

Designed to travel, this exhibit will meet students in the familiar setting of their high school library. Through shared participation, the experience will naturally spark up conversations among peers, prompting them to compare perspectives, challenge assumptions, and engage in deeper discussions.
