Environmental Graphic Design Co-Op
Spring + Fall 2024

Co-Op OverviewI spent a total of eight exciting months at MSA, completing my final two co-op rotations as part of the Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) team. During this time, I was involved in the entire EGD process, contributing to projects at every stage. My responsibilities included planning and facilitating community and stakeholder workshops, developing location plans, creative direction, conceptual design, and design iteration. During the installment phases, I worked on creating bid packages, fabrication art, and install check-ins/punch lists. A key highlight of my experience was presenting my work to clients, which significantly strengthened my confidence in articulating my design concepts and thought process.

Blue Ash Recreation Center

Interior Graphics Package

My largest project while at MSA was creating the interior graphics package for the Blue Ash Recreation Center.I was involved in the project from conceptual ideation to the creation of the final bid package. In our first client meeting, I presented two of the four proposed conceptual directions, with my concept ultimately being selected. Collaborating with graphics team member Munazza Aijaz, we developed the final graphics and wayfinding package. My primary contributions included creating the graphic concepts for the fitness banners, entry signage, directory, and identification signage. Additionally, I compiled the final bid package, selected materials, and created the final graphics location plan.

Upper Arlington Community Center

Indoor Play Mural

When I joined the team, the Upper Arlington Community Center (UACC) project was already well underway, with the graphics package nearly complete. My task was to design a mural for the indoor play space that aligned with the building’s overall graphic style. The concept features local woodland creatures positioned at eye level with the children as they climb the structure (see final render).

Pelotonia

MSA Internal Marketing Campaign

Pelotonia is a series of events centered around a two-day bicycle ride in the Columbus, Ohio area, dedicated to raising funds for cancer research at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center. Each year, MSA develops an internal campaign to support its staff participating in the race and to encourage fundraising. The campaign includes social media content, a jersey design, and print materials. Based on the campaign’s goals and the creative direction provided by MSA’s Marketing team, I designed the assets used throughout the campaign.

Madeira High School Athletics Renovation

Indoor Graphics

One of MSA’s strengths as a firm is its versatility and range of skill sets. The architecture and interior design departments were leading an athletics renovation project at Madeira High School in Cincinnati, OH. As the project progressed, the graphics team identified an opportunity to contribute and pitched our involvement to the project team. I developed multiple concepts for two key areas of the renovation and presented them during a meeting with the Superintendent, Principal, Athletics Director, and other stakeholders.
